Too much of a good thing? Network brokerage within and between regions and innovation performance

چکیده

The paper offers a multilevel understanding of the effect brokerage on regional innovation. We develop typology networks based extent to which inventors region connect otherwise disconnected group local (internal brokerage) or network with other regions (external boundary-spanning). Using data innovation performance and co-inventing within between US metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) 2000 2014, we show that configurations balancing high (low) internal low (high) external boundary-spanning lead higher than those where occurs at both levels analysis.

Hyperoxemia – too much of a good thing?

While avoiding hypoxemia has long been a goal of critical care practitioners, less attention has been paid to the potential for excessive oxygenation. Interest has mounted recently in understanding the clinical effects of hyperoxemia during critical illness, in particular its impact following cardiac arrest. In this issue of Critical Care, Dell'Anna and colleagues review available animal and hu...

Glyphosate: Too Much of a Good Thing?

Although previously accepted as the less toxic alternative, with low impact on animals, farmers as well as consumers who are exposed to residues in food, glyphosate chemicals are now increasingly controversial as new evidence from research is emerging. We argue that specific aspects of the history, chemistry and safety of glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides should be thoroughly considere...

Too much of a good thing?

It sometimes seems that there are too many academic scientists. I’m sure you know the feeling — it tends to emerge when people you think are not up to scratch get grants, or occupy lab space that you’d like for yourself. But I feel the same way when I consider the enormous numbers of scientific papers that nobody cites and which, therefore, presumably nobody reads. Governments and charities are...

Too much of a good thing: curvilinear relationships between personality traits and job performance.

The relationships between personality traits and performance are often assumed to be linear. This assumption has been challenged conceptually and empirically, but results to date have been inconclusive. In the current study, we took a theory-driven approach in systematically addressing this issue. Results based on two different samples generally supported our expectations of the curvilinear rel...
